Warning: Do not read if you have a weak stomach or do not understand my childish sense of humor.
We all know what happens to people who travel abroad and forget that not all water systems are as well-treated as our own.....(SING)When your sittin in your chevy and you feel something heavy...."INSERT THE BIG D WORD HERE and repeat 2x." Yup folks, that's right. This past week, many students including myself were inflicted with the big "D" due to either a.) drinking too much sink water or b.) eating very foreign looking tamales. Whatever the culprit, having the big "D" while simultaneously trying to take three graduate level courses, be sociable, and explore a new city is not an easy task.
Yesterday was definitely a low-point for M.Rockwood's tour de Guatemala . I woke up sick, showered, covered myself in bug-repellent, went to school sick, cried like a baby in my phonetics class, and then went wa wa wa wa all the way home. Let me relay some info: Gatorade and water is not the end all cure all in this PAIS. Only those with endurance and the determination to beat the mosquitoes and dirty water can survive. Or if you have an awesome Mom like I do, a ten minute conversation with her will do.
Not even the semi-earthquake (tremor) at 1:00 A.M. (No I'm not joking) could scare me away from this country.
So the moral of the story is:

I'll leave you with a lovely article to read in your spare time. Most impressive is the contributor's amazing hair style.
